Cracking open the jar, the smell that hits is a heavy gasoline, diesel like aroma with a slight fruity flavor coming off the back. Dumping its contents out into the palm of my hand, there is a collection of medium sized nugs that makes up the weight. Their color is a bright green aura that surrounds them with some darker undertones throughout, with very short and subtle orange hairs. Size aside, the cure on this flower is very well done, with the nuggets being perfectly squishy, with slightly above average trichome coverage. I could see this being a solid option for those with a preference for rolling.
Taking down the first few rips, there is still the presence of that earthy flavor, but it has now with it the addition of a sweet floral aftertaste. The immediate effects appear to be making themselves known up high, as it feels as though someone has unleashed a valve from the top of my head and let all the pressure I had been feeling within loose. Getting further into things, there are some body feels popping into the conversation. Mostly it is a feeling of unravelling. It appears that the tightness that has been carrying me through the day has started to unleash its grip on my joints, giving my body the feeling like a windsock on a light breeze.
With the strain now making itself more comfortable, there is an odd sensation of calm that has been folded into my current sensibilities. Any thought, act, or outside stimulus is being met with an entirely emotionless reaction. However, what is surprising is that that calm is not accompanied by a stillness in the body. Rather, it feels more like a fluid energy like a raging river has begun coursing through me, in turn making the mere act of sitting here to put these words on the page feel like some odd kind of torment.
Now that the peak has passed and the strain is fading, the valve that opened in my head has closed itself off and the grogginess I had been fighting with before consuming has returned with somewhat of a vengeance. That being said, while the intensity of the lubricating energy in the body has lessened, there does remain some vestiges of relief lingering. There are some hints of hunger pangs, but those are very negligible and easily put aside. For my first time giving Illicit a try, I must say I find myself very happy with what the Bruce Banner has to offer. A great strain to calm the mind, yet engage in a physically active creative pursuit.
